Installation and Wearable Objects, 2021
Cotton, Polypill, Wool, Iron
A queer Judaica series of sculptural/functional pieces will be displayed as an installation. The visual language is taken from Jewish iconography, then transformed into soft objects combined with fundamental Jewish Hebrew texts. Through redesigning, I suggest inclusive religious discourse and question sexuality taboos. The pieces raise questions about the language hierarchies of blessing and cursing and the binary separation between organs and genitals.
This project was presented during New York Textile Month 2021 at Makerspace Futureworks.
